SINGLE  SERVANTS

NEWCOMER'S WELCOME

A.   Monthly

Every month newcomers who have placed membership or were baptized will be invited to the monthly Single Servants’ potluck and fellowship. The purpose is for all members of Single Servants to become acquainted with the newcomers and to determine how they can serve the individual(s). A small token of our appreciation will be presented to each newcomer.

B.   Annually

All newcomers from November – October will be invited to an Annual Newcomers’ Banquet on the 2nd Friday of November for a Thanksgiving meal. As we have met all these newcomers at the monthly meetings, it should be easier for us to fellowship with them at the annual banquet.

Subcommittees of the Annual Newcomers’ Banquet are:
1. Program (Speakers, Entertainment, Games, etc.)
2. Memory Book
3. Decorations
4. Meal
5. Transportation
6. Clean-up
7. Other

GOING-IT ALONE SUPPORT

Most members of Sandstone’s Single Servants are currently widows and they offer encouragement and support to each other. Single Servants continually will try to recruit other Singles – i.e., never marrieds, widowers, divorcees, married but spiritually going-it alone – to become part of the Single Servants.

Single Servants will purchase books or other items for presentations to newly-widowed and newly-divorced.

We will look into services such as “handling finances” to help those in need.

Other ways we can offer support to those going-it alone will be discussed from time-to-time.

OTHER

The Single Servants will meet on some special holidays for a meal at a local restaurant and will occasionally have other activities to celebrate the holiday. An example is a special lunch and meeting on Veterans’ Day.
